Creator Profile - Alex Sapountzis and Mark C. Frankel Suck At Comics!

As part of our ongoing series in the leadup to launching our next Kickstarter for We Suck At Comics: Volume Two, we will be highlighting…

Alex Sapountzis and Mark C. Frankel!!!!!

Asleep at the wheel, as usual…

Yeah, tell us something we don’t know. Of all the wonderful creators in this book, these two are the only ones that truly deserve the title “Sucks At Comics.” I mean, just look at them - asleep in their booth as usual!

Anyway, who the hell are these two clowns? And why the hell are they in this volume, even if they ARE publishing it? Seriously, nepotism at its very best. Or worst. Whatever.

I suppose we can answer that. The first one (left above, red shirt - like THAT’S never been a problem for a Star Trek fan before) claims to be an artist. Specially, a “con” artist, because he draws at conventions. We think that sounds sus.

Alex Sapountzis (if that is his real name) has drawn two pieces for We Suck At Comics. You may recognize the delinquent for his story Last Flight in volume one. He wrote and drew that piece. He is also the long time artist and collaborator on the webcomic, Damn Heroes, which he does with the other clown pictured above.

Mark C. Frankel (yellow shirt, right above) calls himself a writer. Fortunately, he doesn’t put a descriptor on that term like “good” or “competent.” Perhaps it is best to say he can string a bunch of words together to create sentences. Sometimes those sentences even make sense. On those days, he must have had his Wheaties or perhaps his shock therapy (an aside - we do NOT condone shock therapy, even in this case). Trust us, Neuriva can’t help him. He claims to have written several comics such as Horsemen, Signed C and The Ascendant which you can see in the shop page.

Mark and Alex combined to create the story Give Strife A Chance. If you must look, you can see the cover below.

Give Strife A Chance

So what is Strife about? Well, imagine the God of War wanted a day off. Who should Ares turn to for relief? He tries to do the obvious and let his sons Phobos and Deimos handle it, but like everything else, they f*^k it up and peace breaks out. The only thing they can think to do it turn to Auntie Eris and give the goddess of strife a chance…
